Uncommon Summer Skin Wisdoms
We know everyone’s telling you to “wear SPF” this summer—good advice, but hardly groundbreaking.
At InMaster MedSpa, we want you to have the real edge—tips your TikTok feed and beauty shelf aren’t giving you.
Here’s what most people miss when it comes to glowing through the season:
1. Eat for Your Skin Barrier
It’s not just water. What you eat affects your UV tolerance and healing speed.
Try boosting your summer skin from the inside with:
Tomatoes: Lycopene = natural UV protectant
Kiwi & berries: Vitamin C for collagen production
Flaxseed oil: Supports skin barrier and hydration retention
2. Nighttime = Repair Time (But Only If You Help It)
Your skin’s repair mode kicks in while you sleep—but in summer, sweat and dehydration block that magic.
Try this instead:
Sleep with a cool mist humidifier if you run AC
Apply a “sleeping mask” 2–3x/week (not the wash-off kind—this is a final layer of barrier-sealing hydration)
If your skin’s flaky: blend ceramide balm + hyaluronic acid serum for deep overnight recovery
3. Don’t Exfoliate Right Before Sun
AHAs, BHAs, or even a gentle scrub make your skin more vulnerable to UV—even with sunscreen.
Instead:
Exfoliate at night only
Limit to 2x/week in summer
Layer on barrier-repair serums like panthenol(a form of Vitamin B5) after
4. Ice Rolling = Morning Game-Changer
An ice roller in the AM improves lymphatic flow, depuffs your face, and cools surface inflammation—especially helpful if you’ve been in the heat or dealing with rosacea or post-laser redness.
You’ll feel the glow. It’s addicting.
(Bonus: It makes makeup apply better too.)
5. Rinse Off Midday – Not Just at Night
Sweat + sunscreen + outdoor grime = a film of bacteria and oxidized oil on your face by noon. Even mineral sunscreen can clog pores if it sits too long.
Pro Tip: Do a gentle rinse (or micellar water swipe) mid-afternoon if you’re outdoors a lot. Then reapply SPF.
Less congestion
Fewer breakouts
Reapply sunscreen more effective against afternoon sun
